The CAMBA Trail Yeti Program

The Trail Yeti program is an opportunity for interested individuals to get involved with keeping the winter trails we all love in the best possible groomed shape.

What are the qualifications to be a Trail Yeti?

  • Must be a current member of CAMBA
  • Must be available to groom trails 1 time per week
  • Must be able to operate a snowmobile in challenging terrain – training available
  • Must have health insurance
  • Must be chainsaw certified
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Hitch requirement on vehicle for grooming Hatchery and Cable Town Trails

What are the duties of a Trail Yeti?

  • Groom assigned trails 1 time per week or as needed, mostly after sunset
  • Clear brush/trees from trails
  • Prep and clean grooming equipment prior and post grooming
  • Inspect equipment, reporting problems to CAMBA
  • Reporting larger problems to CAMBA
  • Report all time to volunteer coordinator at volunteer@cambatrails.org on a weekly basis
  • Report under the general supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator and the Lead Winter Groomer
  • Work location is a pre-agreed upon trail

What is the time commitment of a Trail Yeti?

  • Flexible evening hours – when it works in your schedule
  • Approximately 2.5-3 hours weekly

Equipment provided

  • All the trail maps you could ever need
  • Folding saw that you can carry in your pack
  • Use of CAMBA hand tools and power tools (when properly certified)
  • Invitation to training exclusively available to CAMBA Trail Yetis

Training opportunities

  • Learn Grooming Techniques – why we do it the way we do
  • Handsaw safety and proper cutting and pruning techniques
  • Basic First Aid kit (paid for by CAMBA)
  • First Aid Training (facilitated by CAMBA)
  • Chainsaw training (facilitated by CAMBA)
